Sports medicine is the branch of medicine concerned with injuries sustained in athletics, including their prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Dr. France Boudreau MD.
|
Dr Boudreau attended the University of Moncton and obtained her BA in Science. She earned her medical degree at the University of Ottawa, and completed her family medicine residency in 2008. Dr Boudreau then worked in a busy family medicine practice for a few years, before returning to her studies in 2011. She has recently completed her Sport and Exercise Medicine fellowship through the University of Ottawa's Enhanced Skills Program.
Dr Boudreau is a member of the Canadian Academy of Sports and Exercise Medicine. She has also been an active member of the organizing committee for the Ontario College of Family Physician's Annual Scientific Assembly, held in Toronto, every year.
Dr Boudreau has provided medical coverage for various sporting events during her fellowship year, including varsity basketball, hockey and rugby for both the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. She has also helped with The Ottawa Race Weekend in 2011, and plans to continue medical coverage in the upcoming years.
Although Dr Boudreau has played and competed in various sports over the years, her true passion remains tennis.

Dr. Kristian Goulet MD.
|
Dr. Kristian Goulet is originally from Ottawa and played Junior Hockey in the area. He was recruited to play hockey at the collegiate level and did his undergraduate degree in Biology (Honours) at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. His Medical School Training was in Ireland where he also played high level Rugby.
He completed his Paediatric Residency training at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. During this time he worked with high school and Division I University Athletes. He also gave paediatric sports medicine presentations at the local, State and National levels.
He then went on to do a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Harvard University. He was the head team physician for the Northeastern Huskies Men's Varsity Hockey program.. He has trained under some of the great leaders in Paediatric Sports Medicine at the Children’s Hospital Boston; a center nationally recognized for innovative treatments. During this time he again was very active in the field of concussions giving multiple presentations at the local, regional, and national level Dr Goulet has also designed a concussion education program and is the Clinical Supervisor for the Concussion Education Program for the Sports Legacy Institute. He is also a Credentialed IMPACT Consultant (CIC) meaning he is trained to interpret all IMPACT neuropsychological testing for concussions.
Dr Goulet has recently returned to Ottawa and opened his clinic July 25th 2011. He will be seeing all paediatric patients with a special focus on Concussions and Paediatric Sports Injuries at the Active Care Clinic at 1108 Klondike Road. Kanata Ontario.

Dr. David Mai MD.
|
Dr. David Mai is originally from Ottawa. He did his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Ottawa, Ontario. His Medical School Training was at the University of Western Ontario where he was involved in intramural sports and raced mountain bikes at the provincial level. He completed his Family Medicine Residency, Emergency Medicine and Sport Medicine Fellowship training at the University of Western Ontario. During this time he worked with varsity University Athletes. He has been published in Orthopaedic and sport medicine journals. He has also given sports medicine presentations at the local, national and international levels and currently teaches at the University of Ottawa Medical School. He is fluent in English, French and Vietnamese.
He is currently the program director for the University of Ottawa Sport Medicine Training program and the chief physician of the University of Ottawa Sport Medicine and Physiotherapy Centre. He oversees the medical care of the varsity athletes at the University of Ottawa. He has been a volunteer physician at numerous local, provincial, national and international sporting events. Most recently he was the chief medical officer for Team Canada at the FISU Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China.
Dr. Mai has been in Ottawa since 2003 and has been the sport medicine physician at the ActiveCare Physiotherapy Clinic since 2010. He will see patients of all ages for primary care orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, and sport and exercise related conditions at the Active Care Physiotherapy Clinic at 1108 Klondike Road.
